From Sage&Onion Owner, Jessica Barnard:
I have worked in high street fashion retail for eight years and worked for fabulous stores such as Karen Millen, Monsoon and Zara Menswear.
However, a bizarre chain of events happened that led me to opening the fabulous world of Sage & Onion.
In October 2006 my sister was visiting from America and my mum was visiting from Brighton. On their last day in Yorkshire we all decided to visit Hebden Bridge and consequently all fell in love with it (as so many people do!). In the year that followed, my sister – after fifteen years – moved back from America to Hebden Bridge and my mother relocated from Brighton. With the support and encouragement that they brought with them, I was able to create Sage&Onion.
After 5 years of in Hebden Bridge a lot has changed. After the flooding of June 2012 I decided to relocate Sage&Onion to Lewes, East Sussex. I felt that it was time for me and my son to be closer to our family who were by now living in the south. Lewes is such a lovely town and I believed that Sage&Onion would fit right in whilst also providing the opportunity for growth and development that the shop deserves. So welcome to Sage&Onion, phase 2!
My goal for the shop is to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for women. I make it my aim to know exactly how garments fit so that you don't have to try the whole shop on – unless you want to that is! If you just want to browse, that's perfectly fine! If you can't see what you're looking for, then just ask!!
